Beechworth as we know it turns 175 years old in 2027. This anniversary presents an opportunity for our community to reflect on where we have come from and think actively about what we want Beechworth to look like when we celebrate its bicentenary in 2052.
Beechworth History and Heritage Society is leading community-wide Kitchen Table Conversations so that everyone who lives and works here has the opportunity to contribute and build a clear picture of our community’s hopes and priorities for the next 25 years.
Kitchen Table Conversations, developed by the Victorian Women’s Trust as a model for civic engagement, enable everyone in the community to take part in the discussion.
When all conversations have been completed, the notes from every Kitchen Table Conversation will be carefully collated and summarised. Beechworth History and Heritage will prepare a report that faithfully reflects the community’s themes, ideas and priorities.
This report will be publicly available to everyone online and shared with community organisations, businesses, councillors, parliamentarians and government agencies to help inform future planning, strategies and actions that strengthen and improve our community.
With you help to gather and record local perspectives, we hope to encourage informed community conversations and provide a valuable resource that will help to shape Beechworth’s next 25 years.
