Beechworth Heritage is honoured to be selected as a finalist in the Keep Australia Beautiful Council Victorian Tidy Towns Awards 2026 heritage and culture category.

The development and benefits of our 'Dig into Beechworth' April-May 2026 commemoration and walks program for the National Trust's Australian Heritage Festival is being considered along with projects by the Cyril Young Memorial Chapel Association, National Trust Mornington Peninsula branch and Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

Dig into Beechworth encouraged awareness of the contribution and legacy of Chinese miners to Beechworth's development from the 1850s goldrush, participation in the commemoration of Ching Ming at Beechworth's Chinese Cemetery, and interpretation of historic photographs, the town's treescape and its significant art history.

We congratulate other organisations from Beechworth selected as finalists, including Indigo Regen, Indigo Shire Council and Tourism North East, Spring Ditch, Friends of Stanley Athenaeum, Indigo Shire Waste Services, Share the Dignity Beechworth, Quercus Beechworth and Amy Schilling.

Beechworth Heritage also thanks Iris Mannik and Anne Wilson for their extraordinary ongoing work to bring local projects to the Keep Australia Beautiful Council's attention.
